Reviews for Mexican Tile Renew Sarasota Fl

Travis J. St Pete, FL 1/25/2016:
Had a big problem with old Mexican tile in a house built in the 1950's in St Pete Fl that just would not clean up whatever we did. Planned on having it all ripped out and replaced, it was so bad, but the cost for 1,200 sq feet would have been almost $8,500 and a big mess. I got a hold of Mexican Tile Renew in Sarasota, they came out and gave me a very fair price to strip clean and reseal all the old Mexican tile, I was amazed at how they got it all done in one day and the floors now look beautiful.

Luda S. Sarasota, FL 2/4/2016:
I wanted to thank
Mexican Tile Renew in Sarasota for the great job they have done (inside and outside) the property. The owner of the company stayed on the job for the entire duration -- five + hours and worked side by side with his helpers. The result was -- magnificent cleaned up old, damaged tiles inside of the house. They also cleaned and renewed the outside pool deck. It looked great until the pool company came and ruined all that great work. The owner was gracious and came back to review the damage done by negligent pool company and fixed the problem by stripping and sealing the space again. I was on a deadline to finish the job and I cannot thank them enough. It's a good idea to consult with them and see if you need to clean or prepare your space (floor) prior to their arrival. The sealer was clear and was dry within few hours. Thank you so much, Mexican Tile Renew in Sarasota Really, really appreciated it your hard work and advice.

Jim B. Sarasota, FL 3/15/2016:
I called Mexican Tile Renew to take care of a pool deck area that leads to a kitchen and laundry area in a house that had not been cleaned and sealed in many years. My wife and I took over a foreclosed home in the Gulf Gate area of Sarasota Fl and we needed to get the home ready for sale, as it stood, the Mexican Tile was a big distraction with old rubber pad stuck to the Mexican tile in areas of the kitchen where mats had been laying and the pool area tile was covered with black mold and all marked up.

Bill and his crew from Mexican Tile Renew showed up at 8:30 am and proceeded to strip off all the old sealer, rubber padding and removed all the mold, they cleaned and sanded tiles as needed and put on 4 coats of a clear sealer that made the Mexican tiles come alive, very good job. We were able to sell the house within 10 days, thanks Mexican Tile Renew.

Saltillo-type tiles are now manufactured at many places in Mexico, and high-fire "Saltillo look" tiles, many from Italy, compete with the terra-cotta originals.

The red clay is formed into Mexican tiles, dried in the sun and then fired in kilns, the newly formed Mexican tile can range in color from yellow to red with many tiles having a mixture of those colors. The Saltillo-Mexican tiles are left to dry outside, they sometimes will have the footprint of a dog or a chicken, they remain cool and comfortable in the summer.

It is difficult to install as it absorbs water from the thin-set mortar, grout, grease pencils, etc. Once placed, it stains and scuffs easily if not properly sealed and maintained with a quality sealant.

You should periodically test the seal by putting a few drops of water on the tile in various places. If the water is absorbed, then another coat of sealant should be applied. Other surface sealants may give the tile a shiny appearance.

If the finish becomes too worn, dirty or uneven, it can be stripped and a new coat applied. However, this option is very labor-intensive. Additionally, another coat of sealant can be used on both the saltillo tile and grout. MEXICAN TILE INSTALLATION IS AN ART: A professional with experience in Saltillo will charge $2.50 to $6.00 per square foot for installation, depending on your locale.

Saltillo tile may be sealed with multiple coats of acrylic sealer, the film will build an even protective film and gloss that may repel water, oil, grease, and efflorescence. A quality acrylic sealant should be used as it will be easy to apply, non-yellowing and long-lasting.

Mexican tile has no glazed finish, the only protection for the clay tile is an applied sealer and Mexican tile must be stripped, cleaned and sealed at least every 8 or 9 years, it is and always will be very labor intensive.

Refinishing Mexican tile is not really a DIY project, many different products are needed to properly strip off the old sealer, grease, oil and set in stains from years ago. Mexican Tile can have occasional cracks on the surface and has a somewhat rough texture to the touch. Mexican Tile can have animal prints. Mexican Tile are not the same color. They can vary in shading with-in the same tile. Mexican Tile are prone to alkali in the clay, to minimize problems they must be properly sealed and kept sealed with a water based acrylic sealer, multiple coats are needed.
Mexican Tile Renew uses ACRYLIC SELAERS which offers high gloss protection and beauty to unglazed Mexican paver tile and other porous terra cotta surfaces with fewer coats. A blend of the latest in acrylic polymer technology has been coupled with an antimar agent, U.V. inhibitors and a grease and oil blocker to become the perfect solution for sealing porous tile.

Mexican Tile Renew Project in Sarasota on Screened Lanai Floor with Damage From Sun

Mexican Tile Renew Project in Sarasota on Screened Lanai Floor with Damage From Sun. Most of the time a quick vacuuming or sweeping is all that a Saltillo tile floor needs to make it look fantastic. When dirty or sticky, you can just mop with water.

Mexican Tile Renew Project in Sarasota on Screened Lanai Floor with Damage From Sun. Each Saltillo tile is hand made and so the surface is not completely flat the way ceramic tiles, marble, and other machine manufactured tiles are. In addition, the larger grout lines make the flooring more uneven.

Mexican Tile Renew Project on Long Boat Key With 30 Year Old Saltillo Tile

Mexican Tile Renew Project on Long Boat Key With 30 Year Old Saltillo Tile. Saltillo tile is a tile that is produced and manufactured in Saltillo, the capital of Coahuila in northwestern Mexico. All Saltillo tile is made of terracotta, a naturally occurring red clay. Saltillo is handmade and fired at a relatively low temperature.

Mexican Tile Renew Project on Long Boat Key With 30 Year Old Saltillo Tile. Natural Clay is hand – packed into wooden molds of the desired shape. The shaped clay is then left in the sun to dry. Lastly, dried tiles are hand-stacked in wood burning-kilns where they are fired for 24 hours.

Mexican Tile Renew Project on Long Boat Key With 30 Year Old Saltillo Tile. A low-firing process results in high color variations because varying temperatures are hitting individual tiles from different angles. The flame is uncontrolled, much like it would be in a barbecue pit. Low-firing also leads to size variations and porous, highly absorbent tiles.

Saltillo or Mexican tiles do not have a kiln fired glaze and could easily be ruined by a bad idea like using vinegar (to clean) which would eat through your sealer exposing raw tile. Harsh chemicals are the biggest enemy of Mexican tile flooring, if you feel the need to use harsh chemicals, then you should really consider restoration and refinishing with Mexican Tile Renew in Sarasota Fl.
