Issue Sarasota Fl published on June 27, 2025. 'RUSTIC REVIVAL' SRQ Magazine. Mexican Tile Renew in
Sarasota Fl is giving old Saltillo floors new life. THE PROCESS OF
MAKING SALTILLO TILE IS AS handmade and organic as the tile itself.
Saltillo tile, known for its rustic charm and handmade quality, is
produced using a traditional process that begins with digging clay from
local riverbeds. This clay is then mixed with water, hand-pressed into
wooden molds, and left to dry in the sun. The sun-dried tiles are later
kiln-fired and sealed, resulting in durable and unique terracotta tiles. See link to SRQ article https://issuu.com/srqme/docs/srq_magazine_july_august_2025_and_home_design_f

Tile Renew GM Jessica Bloomfield Shows Off The Finishing Touches
to Our Saltillo Tile Restoration Project in Boca Grande Fl. Mexican Tile Renew uses
ACRYLIC SELAERS which offers satin gloss protection and beauty to
unglazed Mexican paver tile and other porous terra cotta surfaces with
fewer coats. A blend of the latest in acrylic polymer technology has
been coupled with an antimar agent, U.V. inhibitors and a grease and oil
blocker to become the perfect solution for sealing porous tile.
Mexican Tile can have occasional cracks on the surface and has a somewhat rough texture to the touch. Mexican Tile can have animal prints. Mexican Tile are not the same color. They can vary in shading with-in the same tile. Mexican Tile are prone to alkali in the clay, to minimize problems they must be properly sealed and kept sealed with a water based acrylic sealer, multiple coats are needed.
Mexican Tile Renew GM Jessica Bloomfield Shows Off The Finishing Touches to Our Saltillo Tile Restoration Project in Boca Grande Fl. Saltillo tile may be sealed with multiple coats of acrylic sealer, the
film will build an even protective film and gloss that may repel water,
oil, grease, and efflorescence. A quality acrylic sealant should be used
as it will be easy to apply, non-yellowing and long-lasting.
Mexican Tile Renew GM Jessica Bloomfield Shows Off The Finishing Touches to Our Saltillo Tile Restoration Project in Boca Grande Fl. Mexican tile is not Marble, is not Ceramic tile and is not Porcelain
tile. Mexican tile has no glazed finish, the only protection for the
clay tile is an applied sealer and Mexican tile must be stripped,
cleaned and sealed at least every 8 or 9 years, it is and always will be
very labor intensive.

cleaning and sealing services in Sarasota, FL, without using vinegar,
Mexican Tile Renew is a recommended option.
They
specialize in Mexican tile restoration and offer services in the
Sarasota area. They specifically advise against using vinegar or
Fabuloso to clean Mexican tile as it can damage the finish and
potentially pit the tile's surface, according to a blog from mexicantile.wordpress.com
Floor
cleaning products that contain, acid, ether or alcohol are not
recommended for Saltillo or Mexican Tile floors. The acids and/or
alcohol in floor cleaning products like white vinegar and Fabulso will
dissolve any sealer on Mexican tile floors and eventually pit the finish
of the tile. Also while all that is going on any original color in your
grout will become a dark gray over time.
MTR's GM Jessica Bloomfield seen above points to our website at https://www.mexicantilerenew.com/
While vinegar can not be used to clean Mexican tile, it's not
recommended, especially Saltillo tiles, as it can damage the finish. For
Saltillo tiles, it's best to use a mild detergent and water for regular
cleaning. Avoid using Fabuloso or undiluted vinegar, as they will ruin
the Saltillo tile's finish.

If
you are thinking about steam cleaning your Mexican tiles DO NOT DO IT.
Hot steam water is the enemy for porous clay Mexican tiles with an
applied finish, and steam cleaning your Mexican tile floor it will
surely ruin the tile and the sealer. The
'steam cleaning floor company in North Port' who did the work at the
home in North Port had no idea how to clean Mexican tile floors, see before and after photos.
