On the interior floors we had what looked like permanent damage from using rubber pads under our area rugs, and on our lanai the floors seemed beyond repair where our patio table and chairs had made horrible scratches in the tile.

Bill gave me an estimate which I initially thought was a little high—however, when I returned from the grocery, the results were beyond my greatest expectations! The floors look brand new and I’m sure will add value to our house as we are getting ready to sell it. Travis J. St Pete, FL 1/25/2016: Had a big problem with old Mexican tile in a house built in the 1950's in St Pete Fl that just would not clean up whatever we did. Planned on having it all ripped out and replaced, it was so bad, but the cost for 1,200 sq feet would have been almost $8,500 and a big mess. I got a hold of Mexican Tile Renew in Sarasota, they came out and gave me a very fair price to strip clean and reseal all the old Mexican tile, I was amazed at how they got it all done in one day and the floors now look beautiful. 

Luda S. Sarasota, FL 2/4/2016:  I wanted to thank Mexican Tile Renew for the great job they have done (inside and outside) the property. The owner of the company stayed on the job for the entire duration -- five + hours and worked side by side with his helpers. The result was -- magnificent cleaned up old, damaged tiles inside of the house. They also cleaned and renewed the outside pool deck. It looked great until the pool company came and ruined all that great work.

The owner was gracious and came back to review the damage done by negligent pool company and fixed the problem by stripping and sealing the space again. I was on a deadline to finish the job and I cannot thank them enough. It's a good idea to consult with them and see if you need to clean or prepare your space (floor) prior to their arrival. Jim B. Sarasota, FL 3/15/2016: I called Mexican Tile Renew to take care of a pool deck area that leads to a kitchen and laundry area in a house that had not been cleaned and sealed in many years. My wife and I took over a foreclosed home in the Gulf Gate area of Sarasota Fl and we needed to get the home ready for sale, as it stood, the Mexican Tile was a big distraction with old rubber pad stuck to the Mexican tile in areas of the kitchen where mats had been laying and the pool area tile was covered with black mold and all marked up. Bill and his crew from Mexican Tile Renew showed up at 8:30 am and proceeded to strip off all the old sealer, rubber padding and removed all the mold, they cleaned and sanded tiles as needed and put on 4 coats of a clear sealer that made the Mexican tiles come alive, very good job. We were able to sell the house within 10 days, thanks Mexican Tile Renew.

White rubber pads under small area rugs and black rubber pads under larger oriental rugs tend to bond with the finish on Saltillo tiles and stick to the tile when pulled up, just the way it is and always will be. It is the wrong application of rubber padding under area rugs over Mexican tile. It is a very difficult job to remove old rubber padding stuck to and embedded into the face of Mexican tile, it has to be sanded and there will be dust. We have been in business since 1995 and specialize in Mexican tile refinishing.

In this particular Mexican Tile Renew project the customer wanted to be able to blend 3 different types of Saltillo tiles with the new sealer to make a much better visible transition from room to room. I do not promise miracles but we do the best we can to appease the customer, even a project where Mexican tile had been installed in the house during different decades in different rooms. The furniture was covered with plastic and legs of a table protected.

In this project the old rubber padding stuck to the face of the Saltillo tiles was stripped, scraped and sanded as best as possible to remove the black rubber padding in the living room and the office room that had embedded itself into the face of the tile over the last 40 years or so.

There is no other option than sanding down the Saltillo tiles to remove the old rubber pad embedded into the face of the tile, don't use rubber pads under area rugs over Mexican tile.

There are very few companies like mine that will strip, clean and reseal Mexican tile or Saltillo tile in Southwest Florida let alone that will tackle the problem of old rubber pad stuck to and embedded into the face of the Saltillo tile, it is what it is, don't put rubber padding under area rugs over Mexican-Saltillo tile.

Never use rubber pads under area rugs over Mexican tile or Saltillo tile. The rubber padding is oil based, it reacts with whatever sealer you have on the tile, it actually over a period of time eats into the face of the Mexican tile, ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CORRECT.
